Custom Long Hair Bear
Work in Progress
and a quick visit from a
snail!
My most favorite part of bear making is when I reach the point of painting and character shading my bears.

Out come my trusty paints and well worn brushes, some of which I have cut and shaped the bristles for optimum use and application.

These are my favorite colors and what I use on the majority of bears. Occassionally if it suits a particular bear I will apply jet black or mix some colors to coordinate with an outfit.

Paw pads coming together. The arm pads still need to be painted and the foot pads need full felting to match the arms...that is my slated work for today!

I love the profile with these 'cheeky' bears. You can get a great feel for the large grin that curls around his muzzle.

Starting to come together. The colors of this bear are so rich and warm.

One personality packed bear!

In the middle of my picture taking session, in walks my husband with an enormous snail! Now, we live in the Rainforest of the Pacific Northwest and we cross paths with snails on an almost daily occurrence. This snail was very unique from most others.
He was so expressive (for a snail). When one of the children would talk, he would move his head toward them and stretch out his antennas like he was listening of smelling them. He was not afraid and didn't sneak back in fear into his shell. It was like he was stopping in for a quick visit and hello. He almost seemed to be a very happy snail, I could almost spy a shy smile on his little face!

We enjoyed visiting with him for a short while in the house while admiring his snailsonality and beautiful coloring and then decided to return him to his natural habitat. Out he went to our old elm tree with the kids close behind to say 'good day Mr. Snail'.

We hope to visit with you again!
