Work in Progress
Days 1-3

Our family spent a beautiful day at the lake after church enjoying the warm rays of the sun and wonderful companionship.
After days of rain and gloomy weather and being stuck in the house, it was a nice change. Although, being stuck in the house isn't ALL bad, I was able to get some much needed work done on a custom bear slated for completion by the end of next week.

This is the coat, my daughter is so elegantly modeling, that I am using for this bear. It is a very thick and luxurious pile in deep chocolate brown. Karl is being created for the sweetest bear collector who is very excited to watch his progress and completion!
Thank you Lori!

I began by cutting his pattern and sewing his head and neck. He will be a center seam gusset bear with needle felted detailing.

Poor ol' bruin looks more like a pin cushion than a lovable hug able teddy at this point. Here I am allowing the glue for the nose template I created as well as the leather eyelids to dry overnight.

He looks a bit better now, but still needs LOTS of work to show his true character. You can just barely sense his bearsonality beginning to peek through all this fabric and felting.

Tomorrow I will be working on his ears and nose. The next you see him, he will be a completely different bear!
Thank you for checking in to watch Karl's progress. If you are interested in your own Bramblewood Bear, send me an email at

Dear Tomi, again, your daughter is a beautiful child, she even has smiling eyes, and her curly locks are to die for! I already love the shape of Karls face, and the sincerity in his eyes shows through too! I will be watching this masterpiece emerge! Have a great week, Love, Christel
Dear Tomi
Your daughter looks most happy to model the coat.. She is a doll! I see such joy in her eyes..
I cannot tell you what a treat it is for me to watch the progress.. Thank you so much for sharing.. I know it is most time consuming to do so.. You are a dear.
Blessings to you and yours.
Love, Penny
What a beautiful work in progress. Looking forward to the end product, although the joy is in the journey. Hugs, Vicki
Another interesting challenge Tomi?

Oh Tomi, Grandpa would be tickled to see his namesake taking form. I always believed he had hobbit blood running through his veins, but I think there was a bearsonality in there too! I will be following your bear's progress with much delight...love, your mom
